For some time now the reception and communication of the achievements of artificial intelligence systems in the media seem to revolve around a number of similar tropes and rhetorical structures. The attribution of 'agency' and intention to the artificial systems created, the granting of superhuman powers to these systems, and the supposedly logical consequence of the elimination of domains in human practice are some of the common points in these reports on the media. Recent cases related to DALL-E and GPT-3 are analyzed and commented on in this paper. Several problems related to hyperbolic and misplaced reporting are discussed.
